Dental Extractions

Whenever possible, retaining your natural teeth is optimal. However, there are circumstances where a tooth needs to be removed in the best interest of your oral or overall health. Our experienced dental team at Scott A. Babin, DDS and Associates will always do our best to preserve your natural teeth. If a tooth needs to be removed, we offer tooth extractions at our dental clinic in Edmonds and Renton, WA.

Many tooth issues can be resolved through dental treatments, like fillings, root canal therapy or crowns. Extraction is only recommended when treatment is not possible or removing the tooth is the best option to protect the patient’s overall oral health. Baby teeth may be removed if they are causing permanent teeth to become misaligned, and wisdom teeth are often removed if they are impacted or causing crowding in the mouth. Our dentists can determine if extraction is the right option for your tooth issue or whether there are other treatments available.

Pain-Free Tooth Removal

Each tooth is anchored in the jawbone in a socket, with roots that extend down into the jaw. The tooth is attached to the jaw by ligaments. When a tooth needs to be removed, the socket must be opened and the ligaments detached. While tooth extractions sound painful, there is no need for this procedure to cause discomfort. Our dentists use effective anesthesia to perform tooth extractions with no pain for our patients. We also offer sedation options if you are uncomfortable with the procedure. Most tooth extractions can be completed quickly, with or without sedation.

If you have a tooth that is severely damaged, painfully infected or causing oral health issues, removal may be recommended. To discuss tooth extraction or dental treatments for your problem tooth, contact us at Scott A. Babin, DDS and Associates in Edmonds and Renton, WA.
