There are almost 1,500 dentists to choose from in the greater Seattle area. Many of those dentists may say that they offer the “gold standard” in modern tooth replacement: dental implants. However, the offices of Scott A. Babin, DDS & Associates in Renton and Edmonds, Washington, provide truly complete implant dentistry. Our dentists, Drs. Scott Babin and Anne Mazure-Schmidt stay ahead of the latest techniques and treatments transforming dentistry. They have considerable training and onsite capabilities to handle all aspects of the implant process, including the surgery to place this “artificial tooth root.” Other dentists may only provide the “finishing touch” or the restoration that attaches to the implant.
Our practice does it all! All services and treatments available at our two offices start with a consultation. During your visit, we will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth. We also use sophisticated technologies to see what cannot be detected with the unaided eye and to support treatment planning.
Many patients are great candidates for dental implants. We can replace a single missing or failing tooth with one implant. Or, our dentists can use a minimal number of implants (as few as four) to replace a maximum number of teeth. The former option involves restoring the implant with a crown, while the latter is restoring well-placed implants with an upper or lower denture. Additionally, an implant-supported bridge may be appropriate for patients missing a few teeth. The opportunities are seemingly endless.
If you decide to move forward with implants as an alternative to conventional bridges or dentures, we will position these cylindrical-shaped posts precisely in your jawbone. The procedure is performed predictably, painlessly, and efficiently from our office. We can discuss ways to ensure your comfort and a pleasant experience during your visit. We will also go over how to care for your implants. As the implants heal, the surrounding bone joins or fuses with them. The implant effectively becomes a part of the bone. Since implants are made from biocompatible or tissue-friendly materials like titanium, this process is natural and safe. Once the implant is stabilized in the jaw, it can function like a tooth root. Conventional options to replace teeth do not account for the roots of the teeth. They only replicate the parts of the teeth that you can see — the dental crown and, in the case of dentures, the gum line or gummy tissue. Traditional bridges and dentures, in turn, must be stabilized in other ways, either by anchor teeth or by denture adhesive and natural suction. Due to the unique design of implant-retained prosthetic teeth, patients enjoy many aesthetic and functional advantages, including:
